How to value a Favino?
The value of a Favino as a collectible, like all scarce and rare objects has everything to do with “offer and demand”. Over the years Jacques Favino’s name has become nearly as important as that of Selmer and Busato.  Over the last couple of years I noticed an price-increase of 15-20% (yearly) for the Jacques labeled guitars. Both father and son create(d) guitars of high quality. But the Old “dead painter” story goes;  There will never be made any new Jacques Favino guitars.  No more accretion means, they will only become more scarce over the years.   I cannot tell you how much to pay for a Jacques Favino. But if you would buy one from the seventies for say €6000-8000 (date of this remark is jan. 2009), it will surely turn out to be a better investment than putting your money on the bank. In the end only the Market can tell you of course, but Jacques Favino guitars have become very rare and very much sought after by many Gypsy Jazz players. It is a simple Economic rule that goes for Favino as well as Gibson, Fender, Martin and a number of other brands.  The more of them get tied up in collections the rarer they get. The offer part dries up and the Prices ascend.. it's really a very simple rule. If you have a Nice Pre- 1985 Favino labeled Jacques, please send me an email info@tfoa.eu  Thanks, Rudi Bults www.tfoa.eu
