Antoine DiMauro A model 10 Muguet Mandolin 1950s

Antoine Di Mauro was part of the mass emigration of master Sicilian luthiers (Busato, Oliveri Anastasio, etc) who left Catania in the early 20th century. In the 1930s Di Mauro and his countrymen setup a series of shops on the East side of Paris and quickly adapted their skills to making jazz guitars in the Selmer Maccaferri style. Besides these legendary grande- and petite bouche guitars Di Mauro also made other styles of stringed instruments of equal quality.

Take for example this stunning A model 10 Muguet Mandolin from the 1950s. This model type was made from the 1940s throughout the 1960s and is much sought after these days. It features a body made out of mahogany with an ever so slightly carved back, solid spruce top with graceful feaux tortoise pickguard and multi-layered black/white bindings, minimalistic steel tailpiece a comfortable mahogany neck, rosewood fretboard and bridge and a slotted headstock with 4-on-a-plate tuners. Condition is Very Good with some expected signs of use, all original with the exception of the brass frets. The sound is sweet, clear and defined with an outspoken vintage character.
