Martin D28 Limited Edition Brazilian Adirondack

Recently Coen & Rudi were invited to pay a visit to the Martin & Co factory in Nazareth, Pennsylvania. There they found some breathtaking pieces of Brazilian Rosewood and couldn't resist the urge to order an extremely limited run of Brazilian Rosewood D28 dreadnoughts!

Brazilian Rosewood of course hardly needs any introduction. Martin used this legendary tonewood with an often impressive grain and uniquely resonant, rich and deep tonal character up until 1969 after which, because of dwindling supplies, they started using Indian Rosewood in its stead. These days Brazilian rosewood is notoriously difficult to come by, not only because of its limited availability, but also because of the very strict rules and regulations surrounding it.

This Limited Edition run of instruments is a rare opportunity to obtain a D28 Dreadnought like "they used to build them" back in the day. It was based on a real vintage 1942 D28 we had in our vault a while back. To that end it boasts features like solid Brazilian Rosewood back and sides, a solid AAAA quality Adirondack spruce top and a special shape 1942 style barrel and heel mahogany neck. In total 5 of these custom beauties were built. Includes hardshell case and CITES documents.

For your consideration we have included links to the official Martin Custom Shop spec-sheets just below our own spec sheet at the bottom of this page.
