Menno Bos Model Zenith Classical Guitar

Very impressive Zenith model classical guitar built by Menno Bos who was, some might say, the mastermind behind Theo Sharpach. As he puts it himself on his website he was "Raised between wood shavings, the smell of lacquer and glue with classical music in the background..", and destined to build guitars. Although Menno has built many different types of stringed instruments, his heart currently lies in the making of Classical and Flamenco guitars. In these instruments he combines traditional techniques with new and more modern insights which have all found their way into this Zenith model classical guitar.

Menno uses classic concepts like the Golden Ratio and Fibonacci to give his instruments a natural and balanced appearance allowing the eye to dance across the many details with pleasure and ease. This instrument uses a solide Western Red Cedar top fitted with beautiful bindings, intricate and detailed marquetry rosette and a Brazilian Rosewood semi-cutaway allowing for easier access to the 24 (!) frets. The back and sides were also crafted using Brazilian Rosewood whereby the back has been hand-carved and doubled with a cypresse "floating back" construction. From its appearance the neck looks like it has been entirely crafted out of ebony, but it is in fact a cedar neck laminated with ebony which has been left unfinished on the back to allow for a unsurpassed "smooth" feel. The cutaway is not the only feature allowing easier access to the higher frets, the neck has been fitted to the body using a "raised" fingerboard construction. Other details include a Rio rosewood bridge with steep break-angle, ebony headstock overlay and stunning Rubner tuners. Soundwise this guitar is just as impressive as its looks. It responds to the lightest touch, projects like a cannon and offers a rich, full tonal response with a very pleasant warm character. The unique combination of both tradition and innovation found in this guitar can have only sprung forth from the mind of a true masterbuilder. Includes CITES and custom Meinl case.
