Wolfgang Jellinghaus Torres FE04 'La Leona' Moon Spruce Cypress

The Jellinghaus FE04 Model La Leona takes its direct inspiration from the famous FE-04 Model by Antonio de Torres from 1856. Which is one of the first modern guitar models, which was a big inspiration for the guitars we now know. This guitar was created in the Milestone Luthier Center founded by Wolfgang Jellinghaus and Michael Zhang in 2013. The idea of the Milestone Luthier Center is to rebuild the history of the classical guitar through six master builds.

Just like the original De Torres, this guitar also has a characteristic Cypres side and back and a clear Moon Spruce top, a type of wood that is specially harvested under special moon conditions. When the moon is in its last quarter phase, the wood can be harvested in the wintertime, after a period of growth. Scientists and luthiers are convinced that these conditions ensure that the wood is up to 15% denser, making it more resistant to humidity. With beautiful finishes of striking Ziricote on the headstock and binding, Walnut on the rosette and a Rosewood bridge, this guitar is a real tribute to master builder Antonio de Torres. The neck is from Cydrelle, better known as Cedar Mahogany, and is beautifully finished, making it comfortable to hold. She comes in a suitcase.
