Adrian Farmer Dreadnought Cutaway Spruce Rosewood 1996

Adrian Farmer has been making guitars and other stringed instruments since 1983, even for artists like John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin. These days, Adrian can also be found in our workshop where he does repairs and maintenance on every kind of stringed instrument imaginable we have here!

Let's get straight to the point; this is an extremely good-sounding guitar, without a doubt one of the nicest-sounding dreadnoughts with cutaway we currently have hanging in the shop. The guitar has received a total makeover from Adrian, as it had been modified over the years to the point where it was no longer recognisable as the model Adrian once had in mind when he built it in 1996. And his magic has paid off, because how good this guitar sounds!

In 2024, the guitar was fitted with a completely new neck, and as soon as you start playing, you’ll notice its extremely comfortable neck profile, you won’t want to put this guitar away! The rosewood back and sides with Sitka spruce top is now adorned by a new ebony bridge and a new tortoise pickguard with traditional design. The herringbone purfling and detailed rosette have been retained, and another noteworthy detail is that the body has a slight armrest bevel; almost invisible but certainly noticeably more comfortable while playing!

As to be expected, the guitar is ready for battle again thanks to its new parts! The body still has its original playing marks, but the top has received a refinish with light relic making it a beautiful whole. Finally, the older wood of the body and the new neck make for an interesting combination, because where else can you get such a nicely played-in sound in an almost brand new guitar? 

This guitar has been carefully inspected for condition and playability, then set up to our Gold Standard by a luthier. We make sure it arrives in your hands exactly as it should: sounding its best, playing effortlessly and ready to be enjoyed from the very first note.
