The 14-fret dreadnought is the most popular steel-string acoustic guitar in the world, and while Collings is certainly not the only company in the world to build them, they bring a new clarity, depth, and warmth not usually associated with such a large and deep guitar. While the bass response is ideal for vocal accompaniment, Collings dreadnoughts are also often employed by bluegrass flatpickers who have to compete with inherently louder instruments like banjos and fiddles.

While the bass response makes this dreadnought perfect for vocal accompaniment, a Collings dreadnought is guaranteed to satisfy even the most distinguished bluegrass flatpicker. Crafted with a beautiful fine-grained Adirondack spruce top instead of the usual Sitka spruce, the Collings D2HA is a true bluegrass machine! Adirondack spruce offers more volume, is more dynamic and clear than Sitka, and projects like a cannon. These pre-war characteristics give the instrument even more headroom across the entire guitar spectrum, making it impressive to look at and experience, especially when combined with the balanced tone and overtones of the Indian rosewood back and sides.
