Del Vecchio Dinamico 12 Fret Resonator 1960's

The Del Vecchio Dinâmico is one of the most distinctive resonator guitars ever built outside the United States. Starting in the 1930s, the Brazilian builder Del Vecchio developed a unique resonator system, giving the guitar a distinct, singing sound that clearly differs from the well-known National and Dobro instruments.

The Dinâmico became an icon, particularly in Brazilian choro and samba music, while guitarists like Chet Atkins also brought the model international fame. This particular example, built around 1962, belongs to the sought-after early 1960s production and features the closed headstock, the metal Del Vecchio logo, and the characteristic six-fold resonator construction.

The combination of a wooden body and the ingenious internal resonator system produces a surprisingly warm yet clear and projecting sound. The guitar responds particularly directly to the touch, with a long sustain and an almost vocal quality that comes into its own perfectly in fingerstyle, ragtime, blues, and Brazilian music. Moreover, the classic sunburst finish, the simple dot inlay, and the white tuning pegs give the instrument the authentic look that is so characteristic of Del Vecchio guitars from this period.

This Del Vecchio Dinâmico is in reasonable and fair condition, certainly considering its age. The guitar would benefit from some maintenance; the fretwork, neck angle, and operation of the tuning mechanisms are not entirely optimal, but the guitar is nevertheless playable. Due to the combination of its special construction, rich history, and distinctive sound, this is not only an inspiring instrument to play but also a rare collector's item from the heyday of one of the most extraordinary guitar makers Brazil has produced.
