Dingwall Kyle Konkiel Signature Combustion V1 Green to Purple 2024

The Dingwall Kyle Konkiel Signature Combustion V1 was developed to the exact specifications of Kyle Konkiel, bassist for Bad Wolves.

The model combines the signature Combustion design with a striking "Green to Purple" finish, inspired by a Lamborghini Konkiel saw driving in Los Angeles. The alder body and five-piece maple neck feature Dingwall’s signature Novax fanned-fret system, with a scale length ranging from 34 to 37 inches across the five strings. This ensures a natural playing experience, while the longer scale length of the low B string contributes to a tight response and defined low end. The neck features a wenge fretboard with 24 frets and a 9.45-inch radius.

For the electronics, Konkiel opted for three Dingwall FD3-N pickups with neodymium magnets, paired with a Nordstrand 3-band active EQ and Dingwall’s Quad-tone switching system. The four-position rotary selector provides access to various pickup combinations, while an additional switch allows the middle pickup to be added to any configuration. This gives the bass a total of eight pickup configurations and an exceptionally broad tonal palette. From traditional P-Bass and Jazz-Bass-style tones to a powerful humbucker-like sound, the electronics are designed to deliver both vintage warmth and modern clarity and punch.

The hardware is also fully optimized for the Combustion's performance. The Ultralite tuners, developed in collaboration with Hipshot, feature shorter posts for a better string angle at the nut, contributing to tuning stability and sustain. The Minimalist one-piece bridge is lightweight, solid, and easy to adjust. Both the string height and intonation can be adjusted using a single wrench.

The Kyle Konkiel Signature Combustion V1 was originally released as an exclusive run of just 25 units, and this 2024 example is virtually indistinguishable from new.
