The Epiphone Coronet is a guitar we certainly don't come across every day! The model was produced by Gibson and appeared on the market in 1958 with the Epiphone name on the headstock as a beginner's guitar.

This Coronet is part of the second generation of the model and is one of approximately 500 examples built in 1962. The guitar features a symmetrical mahogany body with a set neck also made of mahogany; it doesn't get any simpler than that! This second generation received a more rounded and slightly thicker body, a larger pickguard, and a new pickup, as the New York pickup was replaced by a P90 in the bridge position.

The bridge has been replaced by a compensated Music City Bridge wraparound, and the guitar has been fitted with a new set of Kluson Deluxe tuners. The original pickguard is striking; it has shrunk and warped, revealing the original deep red Cherry finish. A refret was also performed at some point, with wide frets installed. The guitar has also accumulated various signs of playwear and dings. Furthermore, the lacquer shows some checking, and two lines have been scratched into the finish near the control knobs. The replaced bridge and tuning machines are included in the original vintage cardboard case.

This is a real player and the ideal guitar for the guitarist who wants to take to the stage with something striking; what a cool little guitar!
