Epiphone Limited Edition Union Jack Sheraton 2015

Subtle is not the word: this 2015 Sheraton proudly wears the Union Jack across its chest. Epiphone released this limited edition of 1,000 pieces as a tribute to 50 years of the British Invasion, complete with Gibson USA mini-humbuckers and the classic vine inlay on the headstock. A guitar you immediately see and hear!

The Sheraton first appeared in 1958, shortly after Gibson acquired Epiphone. The model rolled off the same Kalamazoo production line as the ES-335, but received a more luxurious treatment: multi-ply binding, block-and-triangle inlays, the vine inlay on the headstock, and a Frequensator tailpiece.

That combination of semi-hollow versatility and elegant appointments earned the model a wide following, from John Lee Hooker to the Britpop generation. It is that latter chapter that forms the inspiration here: the Union Jack motif refers to the guitar Noel Gallagher used to play to packed stadiums throughout the 1990s.

Beneath the flag is a serious semi-hollow guitar. The laminated maple body provides a tight, articulate foundation, while the two Gibson USA mini-humbuckers build on it with a more compact and better-defined sound than a regular humbucker offers. In the neck position, this results in a warm, woody tone, while the bridge pickup delivers the bite and twang for which this model is known!

This 2015 Epiphone remains exceptionally clean and is in excellent condition. It shows only very minimal signs of use in the form of light surface scratches. It comes in its case with its certificate of authenticity.
