The Epiphone El Dorado holds a special place in the brand's history and has grown into a beloved model among both musicians and collectors. Thanks to its distinctive design, high-quality build, and rich sound, this dreadnought has inspired generations of guitarists. For Marcus King, the El Dorado holds extra personal significance: it was the very first guitar he ever owned. With his 2020 Grammy-nominated album *El Dorado*, he already paid tribute to this special instrument, and now Epiphone is doing the same with the Marcus King El Dorado. This new version is a tribute to King's original guitar and convincingly captures the look and character of the rare El Dorado models from the seventies. The square shoulder dreadnought body is constructed from a solid spruce top and a solid rosewood back, a combination that produces a deep, rich sound that continues to evolve over the years. The body is finished with a quadruple binding on the top and a single binding on the back. The mahogany neck with a 25.5-inch scale length features a comfortable C-profile and is equipped with a volute behind the headstock for added rigidity. The distinctive headstock is inspired by Japanese Epiphone models from the seventies and features a bone nut, smooth-running Epiphone Deluxe tuners with metal knobs, and a mother-of-pearl Epiphone logo. The rosewood fingerboard is finished with three-piece binding, rounded mother-of-pearl block inlays, and twenty frets, and is attached to the body with a traditional dovetail joint. The rosewood belly-down bridge features a compensated bone saddle and black bridge pins. As a subtle tribute to Marcus King, both the contours of South Carolina, his home state, and the Tennessee Tri-Star emblem are incorporated into the bridge in mother-of-pearl. The pickguard is also an accurate reproduction of the one on King's original El Dorado. The Marcus King El Dorado comes standard with an L.R. Baggs Element Bronze undersaddle pickup and preamp, with the volume and tone controls discreetly placed at the edge of the soundhole. This makes the guitar ready for immediate use on stage or in the studio, without compromising its classic appearance. The guitar comes in a hardshell case featuring a reproduction of Marcus King's signature on the exterior. This special edition is available for a limited time only and serves as a fitting tribute to both a rare Epiphone model from the seventies and one of the leading guitarists of his generation. This instrument has been carefully inspected for originality, condition and playability, then set up to our Gold Standard by a luthier. We make sure it arrives in your hands exactly as it should: sounding its best, playing effortlessly and ready to be enjoyed from the very first note.
