Here at The Fellowship of Acoustics, we regularly come across the finest recreations from the Fender Custom Shop, but this Precision Bass is the real deal. The Fender Precision Bass is one of the most popular bass guitars in history, and this 1977 example lets you feel and hear why!

This 1978 Fender Precision Bass shows what vintage bass guitars are all about! Weighing 5.27 kilograms, this bass is a particularly sturdy piece, making it a true exponent of the 70s. The bass's vintage charm is unmistakable, and with its weathered sound, it undoubtedly leaves modern replicas behind.

Fender introduced the Precision Bass in 1951, and its thick sound and indestructible construction completely changed the music world. Despite the single pickup, the bass is exceptionally versatile, as evidenced by the fact that you can encounter the Precision Bass in any musical situation. The bass's ash body is clad in one of Fender's most distinctive color schemes, 3 Color Sunburst. The maple neck features a rosewood veneer fingerboard with a 7.25-inch radius and plays exceptionally smoothly.

Although the Precision Bass had been on the market for a long time, the model still underwent several changes during the 1970s. For instance, starting in 1974, the model was equipped with a black pickguard as standard, and the support was moved from the treble side to the bass side of the strings. In 1977, the logo on the headstock received a minor change in the form of a smaller font for the model designation 'Precision Bass'.

This 1978 Fender Precision Bass has signs of wear and dings on the body and neck, but these are as you would expect from a 48-year-old used instrument. This gives the bass an appearance that you would prefer to see on a vintage bass guitar! Furthermore, the bass features the original electronics, pickups, and hardware such as the bridge, chrome covers, and tuning machines. The CTS potentiometers have the code R1377920; It is therefore plausible that the bass was built in 1978 and the electronics were added in 1979, after which the bass was completed and shipped.

This Precision Bass demonstrates without a doubt why it is one of the most popular bass guitars in history!
