Fender Stratocaster Roland G5 Sunburst 2012

This 2012 Fender Stratocaster Roland G5 is a fascinating twist on the world's most famous electric guitar. At first glance it's a classic 3-tone sunburst Strat, but built into it is Roland's clever onboard modelling system, giving you a whole range of alternate tunings and guitar voices at the turn of a knob, with no retuning or external gear required.

The G5 was a collaboration between Fender and Roland, combining a genuine Fender Stratocaster with Roland's V-Guitar technology. Alongside the normal magnetic pickups, the internal system lets you switch instantly between different tunings, from drop D to a variety of open tunings, as well as a selection of guitar models, all self-contained and powered from the guitar itself. It's a hugely versatile instrument, equally at home as a straightforward Strat or as a creative studio and stage tool.

This particular example has been tastefully modified. It now wears a Mexican-made roasted maple neck, which brings excellent stability and a warm, snappy feel, while the pickups have been swapped for a set of Fender Noiseless single-coils that deliver classic Strat tone without the hum. It has also been fitted with replacement locking tuners for rock-solid tuning stability. Importantly, the Roland control system remains fully functional and works perfectly. The guitar is in very good condition and comes with a hardshell case, as well as a taxation report from Sommer Music Store drawn up in late 2025.

With its alder body, roasted maple neck and comfortable C profile, this Strat plays and feels every bit as good as it sounds. The Noiseless pickups cover all the familiar Stratocaster ground, from glassy cleans to bluesy bite, while the Roland system opens the door to sounds and tunings that would normally call for several different instruments. It's a rewarding guitar for anyone who wants classic Fender feel with a lot of extra creative potential.
