Fender Stratocaster Hardtail Vintage Blonde 1975

Vintage Stratocasters are among the most coveted guitars, not least because many great guitarists played their most famous hits on models from the 50s and 60s. However, due to their popularity, the prices of these guitars have also risen considerably, which is why we are moving on to the next decade: the 70s.

The 70s were an interesting period for Fender. After the enormous success of the 60s, CBS wanted to increase profits by cutting costs in the production process. But that certainly does not mean that guitars from the 70s are not good instruments. On the contrary! This 1975 Stratocaster proves that fantastic guitars were still being built back then.

Stratocasters from the 70s are usually known for their large headstock and relatively high weight. Yet, this example is surprisingly light for its time, weighing just 3.2 kg. The guitar features an ash body finished in Vintage Blonde with a maple neck and a comfortable C-profile.

As befits a true Strat, it features three single-coil pickups, and in this case, these are the original Grey Bottoms from 1974. The two tone potentiometers are certainly original CTS units from 1974, but the date code on the volume pot is illegible. However, we are virtually certain that this potentiometer is also original, given its matching appearance with the other two units. A notable feature is the extra switch; this allows you to add the middle pickup to the signal in the first and third positions of the pickup selector.

The guitar has been refretted, and the nut has also been replaced. The finish on both the body and neck shows some signs of wear and dings here and there, but for its age, the guitar is in very good condition. It plays smoothly, resonates beautifully, and possesses that unmistakable vintage character. A Stratocaster begging to be played!
