Introduced by Gibson in the late 1930s, the SJ200 quickly gained fame as the king of flat-tops.This Custom Shop 1957 SJ200 features details such as hand-selected maple for the back and sides, a stinger on the headstock, and a thermally aged Sitka spruce top for the full vintage effect.Due to the substantial size of the body, the guitar is capable of producing a large volume in a balanced manner; this is a guitar that certainly wants to be heard! Other iconic elements are naturally present as well: the moustache bridge and the beautiful inlaid pickguard that have characterized the SJ200 for so long. With its thin nitrocellulose finish, the instrument also possesses the vintage feel that is so fitting for this beautiful tribute to the 'King of Flat-tops'. However you play this flat-top, it sounds rich and deep, and is suitable for strumming simple chords as well as for elaborate leads. This 2024 SJ200 shows only minimal signs of wear and is actually hardly distinguishable from a new guitar. Notably, the word ‘Demo’ can be read on the back of the headstock; Gibson uses this term for guitars that have been demonstrated in stores or at trade shows, for example, or have been briefly used by artists for testing or performing. These guitars are simply full-fledged production models of the same high quality we have come to expect from Gibson! The guitar comes with a certificate of authenticity in a hardshell case.
