The 1991 Gibson Chet Atkins CEC is a unique crossover instrument that blends the best of both worlds! With its slim body and built-in piezo electronics, this nylon-string guitar offers both the warm tone of a classical guitar and the versatility and playability of an electric guitar—perfect for the guitarist who moves between different styles.

Gibson introduced the Chet Atkins series in the 1980s in collaboration with the legendary country guitarist himself. The CEC (Classical Electric Conventional) was an innovative solution to a common problem: many guitarists wanted to combine the expressive tone of nylon strings with the practical advantages of an electric guitar.

The result was a slim, semi-acoustic design without a traditional soundhole; this eliminated feedback issues and finally made amplified playing accessible to classically oriented musicians. The "Conventional" version features a 51mm-wide nut and a classical-style neck.

This Gibson shows several dings on the top and body, and there are light signs of play on the back of the neck. Considering its age of 35 years, the guitar is in remarkably good condition—an instrument that allows you to follow in the footsteps of not only Chet Atkins but also artists like Mark Knopfler and Brian May!
