The Gibson Custom Shop 1958 Les Paul Standard Reissue VOS Washed Cherry Sunburst is a historically faithful reproduction of one of the first Les Paul Standards from the legendary Burst era. For this model, the Custom Shop harks back to the construction and specifications of the original instruments from 1958, featuring a one-piece mahogany body and a plain maple top.

The mahogany neck features the characteristic deep Chunky C-profile and is attached to the body with a long tenon and hot hide glue. The 12-inch radius of the Indian rosewood fingerboard, the narrow frets, and the nylon nut complete the vintage character, while the VOS finish gives the guitar a subtly weathered look.

The sound is provided by two Gibson Custombucker humbuckers, designed as a close approximation of the original PAF pickups from the fifties. The Alnico III magnets and unwaxed coils provide an open and dynamic response, with warm bass, a rich midrange, and sparkling highs. The hand-wired electronics feature CTS potentiometers, separate volume and tone controls, and oil paper capacitors, allowing the sound to be shaped precisely and the high frequencies to be rolled back smoothly. The result is a versatile vintage voice that comes into its own perfectly in blues, jazz, and classic rock.

The hardware is also tuned as closely as possible to the original 1958 models. With its classic Washed Cherry Sunburst and uncompromising vintage specifications, this 1958 Les Paul Standard Reissue offers a compelling combination of historical appearance, playability, and the characteristic sound that made the original Bursts so legendary.

This Les Paul was built in 2021 and was originally released as a Demo model. These guitars are intended for trade shows and other demonstrations, and are sometimes also loaned out to artists. There are some light signs of wear and a few small dents on the back of the body, and some bleeding of the red lacquer is visible on the bindings. Otherwise, the guitar is in very neat condition and comes in a somewhat older black Gibson Custom Shop case.
