Despite its resemblance to a smaller ES335, its construction is fundamentally different. At its core, the CS336 is a solidbody with two side chambers, leaving the central solid mahogany sustain block intact. Think more of a chambered double-cut Les Paul with a mahogany top than the laminated maple construction of a 335, as there's hardly any common DNA.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp style=\"margin-bottom: 0px;\"\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp style=\"margin-bottom: 0px;\"\u003eThis 2017 example is made entirely of mahogany, from the carved top to the neck, which directly influences the tonal character. Mahogany provides warmth, depth, and a full, rounded tone with solid sustain thanks to the solid sustain block. The two dogear P90 pickups complement this perfectly: raw, direct, and full of character, with more body than a standard single-coil pickup but without the thick midrange of a humbucker.
