Gibson Johnny Cash SJ200 Vintage Cherry Sunburst Ltd. 2024

To honor the legacy of American music legend Johnny Cash, Gibson Custom presented a limited edition of 100 handmade SJ200 guitars in 2024, recreations of the iconic instruments Gibson made for Cash in the late 1950s. Johnny Cash, who sold over 90 million records and influenced genres from country to rock and gospel, left an indelible mark on music history.

The Gibson Custom Johnny Cash SJ200 is a meticulously crafted tribute to one of music's most iconic figures. In the late 1950s, only two original SJ200 guitars were made exclusively for Johnny Cash, and now Gibson has recreated these legendary instruments for the first time. Limited to just 100 pieces, each guitar is a collector's item, expertly handcrafted by Gibson's guitar builders.

The Johnny Cash SJ200 features a beautiful AAA flamed maple body, combined with Gibson's traditional hand-scalloped X-bracing. This combination not only enhances the guitar's visual appeal but also provides a balanced tone with extra clarity and attack, perfectly complementing the deep lows of the Super Jumbo body. The guitar also features the distinctive pickguard shape, designed by Cash himself, making it instantly recognizable and a true tribute to his legacy.

He received 13 Grammy Awards, was inducted into multiple Halls of Fame, and received prestigious honors such as the Kennedy Center Honors and the National Medal of Arts. These meticulously crafted guitars, featuring Cash's name inlaid in mother-of-pearl on the fretboard and a unique pickguard designed by Cash himself, celebrate the profound impact of his legendary career.

The guitar is in excellent condition and has some minor dings on the back of the body and in the waists. On the top, an imperfection has developed in the finish on the lower bout, presumably caused by a liquid. These signs of wear are certainly not prominent, and the guitar is otherwise in neat condition.

This instrument has been carefully inspected for originality, condition and playability, then set up to our Gold Standard by a luthier. We make sure it arrives in your hands exactly as it should: sounding its best, playing effortlessly and ready to be enjoyed from the very first note.
