James Tyler Dann Huff Original Classic 3 Tone Sunburst 2025

James Tyler guitars are among the most revered boutique instruments in the world, and this Dann Huff Original Classic shows exactly why. Finished in classic 3 Tone Sunburst, this 2025 model is a faithful recreation of the heavily modified guitar that session legend and producer Dann Huff has relied on throughout his career, built to the exacting standards that have made James Tyler a favourite of top players and tone connoisseurs.

Built in California, James Tyler instruments are known for their flawless fit and finish and superb playability. The Original Classic pairs a lightweight alder body with a quartersawn maple neck and rosewood fingerboard, an X Thin profile and a 10" to 12" compound radius for a fast, effortless feel right across the neck. A Wilkinson VS100 tremolo and Hipshot locking tuners keep it stable and rock solid in tune.

The H S S pickup set mirrors Dann's own guitar, with a Seymour Duncan JB humbucker in the bridge and a pair of Seymour Duncan Hot Stacks in the middle and neck. The Hot Stacks give the fatter midrange and stronger attack of a stacked humbucker with none of the usual single coil hum, while the JB brings a full low end, crisp highs and that signature upper midrange bump, covering everything from glassy cleans to thick, driving rock tones.

The control layout looks simple but hides enormous flexibility. Alongside the five way blade selector there is a master volume and a 250K master tone, and each of the three pickups has its own mini toggle that switches it between series and parallel, giving a different voice and output from every pickup. The master volume doubles as a push switch that engages or bypasses the active midboost preamp: with the preamp engaged you get extended lows and highs, a small volume lift and extra midrange and output, while bypassing it returns the guitar to a pure passive tone. The master tone works the same way, and pressing it adds the neck and bridge pickups together no matter where the blade is set, opening up Telecaster style and all three pickup sounds on top of the standard five positions.

It is in near mint condition with almost no play marks, looking essentially as new. It comes with its Certificate, a hardshell case and a TFOA Passport.
