Jellinghaus Master Built Conservatory Spruce Padauk

This Jellinghaus Master Built Conservatory is built at the Milestone Luthier Center, where a spruce top and padauk body come together on a lattice-braced soundboard for a fast, responsive voice with plenty of projection. It's a modern take on the classical concert guitar, built for players who want clarity and volume without sacrificing warmth.

The Milestone Luthier Center was founded in 2013 by Wolfgang Jellinghaus and Michael Zhang, with the goal of tracing the history of classical guitar making through six master builders spanning 230 years, each of whom pushed construction and sound in a new direction. The Conservatory model reflects that same drive for innovation, pairing traditional tonewoods with a modern lattice bracing pattern rather than the fan bracing found on Jellinghaus's more historically faithful replicas.

The spruce top is paired with padauk back and sides on a classical body shape, with a mahogany neck carrying a classical profile and a flat ebony fingerboard. The 51.5mm nut width and 650mm scale length keep a familiar, comfortable feel, while a padauk bridge and 3-on-a-plate tuning machines complete the build.

The lattice bracing gives the top a light, even response, so the guitar speaks quickly across the whole fingerboard rather than favouring certain notes over others. The spruce top adds fast attack and shimmering trebles, while the padauk back and sides bring depth and sustain that keeps notes ringing rather than falling away.
