Jelinghaus Torres77 Cypress Moonspruce 2022

This Jellinghaus was built after an 1884 Torres: a lightweight, traditional classical guitar featuring a Swiss Moon Spruce top, a cypress body, and a short 610 mm scale length.

In the second half of the nineteenth century, Antonio de Torres laid the foundation for the modern classical guitar. His fan bracing and lightweight construction: thin, responsive, and built with the soundboard as the focal point, became the standard that luthiers continue to follow to this day.

The soundboard is crafted from Swiss Moon Spruce, a tonewood harvested during the trees' dormant winter season and valued for its exceptional stability. Combined with the thin French polish finish and traditional fan bracing, it delivers the clear, immediate response that defines this style of construction: a voice rich in colour and separation between individual notes rather than sheer power.

This 2022 Torres77 is in very good condition and shows the honest signs of being well played. The soundboard has a few small lacquer dings, while the armrest area displays a light matte spot. The back also shows some buckle wear, and the headstock has a few minor lacquer blemishes. These cosmetic signs of use are purely superficial and do not affect the guitar's playability or structural integrity. On the contrary, years of playing have only helped the instrument open up tonally, while the short scale length makes it exceptionally comfortable to play.
