Kauffmann 59 SC Burst Medium Aged

This Kauffmann 59 SC in Burst captures the spirit of the classic late fifties single cut, with a flamed AAA maple top over a Spanish cedar body and Kauffmann's medium aging that makes it look and feel like a guitar with a long story behind it. A pair of Kauffmann humbuckers and a Faber wraparound bridge give it a rich, singing voice with plenty of sustain.

Kauffmann Guitars builds its instruments in Alphen aan den Rijn in the Netherlands, with a simple motto: it's all about feel. As the name suggests, the 59 SC takes its cue from the single cut guitars of 1959, a year that many players see as the golden era of this design. Every Kauffmann goes through what the brand calls the Time Travel Treatment, an aging process that comes in different levels. This one received the Medium treatment, which gives it a played in look and a familiar, comfortable feel right away.

The Spanish cedar body is light and resonant, giving the guitar a warm, open voice, while the maple top adds clarity and a bright attack, so chords stay defined and single notes cut through. The Honduras mahogany neck adds warmth and body, and the rosewood fingerboard rounds off the attack slightly. The Kauffmann 57 GT in the neck and the Eliminator in the bridge take you from a warm, round neck tone to a more cutting, powerful bridge sound. The wraparound bridge keeps the strings in direct contact with the body, which helps every note ring out long and full. It comes with a Gator hardshell case, its signed Kauffmann spec sheet and a TFOA Passport.
