Lowden G9C Ovangkol Cedar 1984 #2993

This 1982 G9c is one of the Lowden guitars built in Japan during the first half of the 1980s in S. Yairi's workshop. Here, Lowden designs were built at a lower price, but the guitars retained the characteristics and quality Lowden was known for.

This guitar features a solid cedar top and laminated ovangkol sides and back, resulting in a sound that is deep and powerful. The cedar adds warmth and volume, while the ovangkol brings a bright, dynamic edge to the tone, creating a perfect balance between warmth and clarity.

The mahogany neck with a soft V-profile and a rosewood fingerboard offers smooth playability, while the rosewood bridge ensures excellent sustain. The jumbo body shape further improves resonance and projection, ideal for both fingerstyle and strumming. The cutaway provides good access to the upper frets, so you can really let loose on this guitar!

This Lowden is a wonderfully broken-in guitar that already has a whole musical life behind it, but certainly still has many years of playing enjoyment left in it. There are signs of wear and dings on the top and body, along with a scratch in the finish on the lower bout on the treble side. However, the guitar is very clean for a 44-year-old instrument, and plays and sounds wonderful!
