Martin Custom Shop 041 Honduran Rosewood Alpine Spruce 2026

This Martin Custom Shop 0-41 is a rare treat: the intimacy of Martin’s smallest 0-body dressed in the Custom Shop’s most lavish appointments. Solid Honduran rosewood back and sides meet an Italian Alpine spruce top, with abalone purfling and snowflake inlays turning a compact fingerpicker into a true showpiece.

Martin’s 0-size body is one of the oldest shapes in the company’s history, prized for generations for its focused voice and effortless comfort against the body. Style 41 and 45 appointments, meanwhile, have always sat near the very top of Martin’s range; reserved for the instruments the Custom Shop pours its finest materials and detailing into. Bringing the two together in a single build is exactly the kind of thing that makes a Custom Shop guitar worth seeking out.

Being a Custom Shop build, no detail has been left to chance. The solid Honduran rosewood back and sides are paired with a solid Italian Alpine spruce top and scalloped X-bracing, finished in a warm natural gloss with aging toner. The mahogany neck carries a Modified Low Oval profile, an ebony fingerboard with a comfortable 16" radius and an ebony bridge. Everywhere you look there’s craftsmanship: white binding, abalone purfling, a Style 45 diamonds rosette, abalone snowflake inlays, a rosewood headstock overlay and gold Grover Sta-Tite tuners.

This example is in near-mint condition. The pickguard shows some very light playwear and the top edge of the back of the headstock has some small spots with some air under the lacquer. These are visual spots that show it hasn’t just left the factory, but looks almost still as new.

On the lap, the 0-body feels wonderfully personal, and the 24.9" short scale adds a slinky, relaxed feel under the fingers. Tonally, the small body stays tight and articulate, while the Honduran rosewood lends warmth and a shimmer of overtones and the responsive Italian Alpine spruce top reacts to every nuance of your touch. The scalloped X-bracing keeps the whole guitar lively and open. It rewards fingerstyle and softer playing beautifully, without ever sounding thin.
