Martin Custom Shop D45 12 String 2020

A standard D45 is certainly not an everyday sight as Martin's top model, but this 12-string version from the Custom Shop is an absolute rarity!

The Martin D45 is one of the most opulent guitar models ever built. The first example was made in the 1930s, and to this day, it remains one of the most impressive models in the Martin range. As the absolute top model, the D45 is richly decorated with hand-inlaid abalone on the top, back, sides, and heel.

But it is certainly not just about looks. For the D45, Martin uses only the very best tonewoods. This dreadnought is made of East Indian rosewood for the back and sides and premium Sitka spruce for the top, a classic combination that guarantees a rich sound and excellent projection. And then there is the typical 12-string character of this guitar, which provides an almost unreal depth and brilliance.

The sound is overwhelming with deep basses, smooth midtones, and sparkling high frequencies. The Sitka spruce top offers warmth and focus, with just the right amount of overtones. The extra strings provide a natural chorus effect that comes into its own both during rich chord playing and subtle strumming.

This Martin D45 left the Martin Custom Shop in 2020 and is still in excellent condition. There is a tiny mark on the top behind the bridge, and the back of the soundbox shows very light signs of wear. Furthermore, there are a few very small scratches on the back of the headstock. Finally, we see that the bridge saddle is starting to wear low, but this Martin will provide you with many years of carefree playing enjoyment!
