The Martin D18 is widely regarded as one of the true classics in the world of acoustic guitars. While its specifications have evolved over time, this 1952 example comes from a relatively stable period and retains the familiar features that defined the D18 since the late 1940s.
Built with a mahogany back, sides and neck combined with a Sitka spruce top, this guitar delivers the balanced, direct and punchy tone the model is known for. The bridge and fingerboard are made from Brazilian rosewood, with a long saddle design that reflects the period-correct construction.
This D18 is a true player's instrument and remains in excellent condition. It shows repaired cracks on the upper sides of the body, replaced tuners, and a K&K Trinity pickup system has been installed. The bridge has been reglued and the guitar has undergone a professional PLEK setup. It also appears to have had an overspray at some point in its life. With a rich history and plenty of character, this remarkable D18 is ready for its next chapter.
This instrument has been carefully inspected for originality, condition and playability, then set up to our Gold Standard by a luthier. We make sure it arrives in your hands exactly as it should: sounding its best, playing effortlessly and ready to be enjoyed from the very first note.
