Martin HD28 2005

A good dreadnought is an indispensable instrument in the guitarist's arsenal, and with its beautiful sound and impeccable playability, this HD28 is a particularly good guitar that looks beautiful too!

The HD28 is Martin's modern reinterpretation of the pre-war D28, in this case featuring standard scalloped X-bracing under the top. This Martin is built with solid Indian rosewood for the back and sides, solid Sitka spruce for the top, and carefully selected mahogany for the neck. The HD28 was introduced in 1975 and was Martin's first attempt to create a new Golden Era-specified Martin guitar.

Furthermore, the Martin HD28 features abalone dot inlay on the fingerboard, herringbone purfling, and, most importantly, the 'scalloped' bracing, which makes the top more flexible and allows it to reproduce more overtones and bass frequencies. And this Martin certainly proves it! The sound is grand, with a strong low end, a beautiful midrange, and a crystal-clear high end, plenty of headroom, and impressive sustain.

This HD28 was built in 2005 and is in very good condition. The guitar has had some repairs; a small crack on the shoulder on the bass side has been glued, and the bindings in the waist on the back of the body have been glued. Furthermore, the guitar shows signs of wear and dings on the top, body, and neck, evidence of a well-played instrument. The bridge pins have been replaced with a set of Liquid Metal, and the guitar is equipped with two straplocks.
