Nijsse The Pioneer 12 Inch Dobson Banjo Walnut

This beautiful Pioneer banjo was built by Ewout Nijsse from Middelburg (Zeeland), and he spared neither cost nor effort to craft a truly magnificent instrument!

Nijsse used European walnut for the rim and neck, and the armrest is also crafted from this exquisite wood. The hardware comes from Rickard Banjos in Canada, with brass components that beautifully complement the walnut. The neck features African ebony for both the fretboard and the peghead overlay.

The Dobson tone ring gives the banjo a lovely, warm bass response with a full, round character and a balanced sparkle in the high frequencies. This type of tone is ideal for "old-time" banjo players seeking an authentic sound, yet with a bit more richness and clarity than a banjo without a tone ring offers.

Because the tone ring is made of brass, the sound is very warm rather than overly bright. The Dobson tone ring design is relatively simple but delivers outstanding results for "old-time" 5-string open-back banjos.

This guitar has been carefully inspected for condition and playability, then set up to our Gold Standard by a luthier. We make sure it arrives in your hands exactly as it should: sounding its best, playing effortlessly and ready to be enjoyed from the very first note.
