Rickenbacker 325C58 Jetglo John Lennon 2006

The Rickenbacker 325C58 is inextricably linked to John Lennon, who transformed the compact model in the early sixties into one of the most recognizable guitars in the history of pop music. The 325C58 is based on Lennon's early Rickenbacker from 1958 and combines the characteristic compact body with the short 20.75-inch scale length and three Rickenbacker single-coils.

When Lennon bought his Rickenbacker in Hamburg in 1960, it had an Alder Glo finish and featured a Kaufman Vib-Rola bridge and distinctive Cooker knobs. However, he modified the guitar to his heart's content, and this was indeed the case with most reissues.

This particular example also features the most significant modifications that were made to Lennon's own 325 over the years. The original Kaufman Vib-Rola has been replaced by a Bigsby, just as Lennon did in 1961. The knobs have been replaced with aluminum Burns-style knobs, a modification that Lennon applied in 1963.

This guitar was released by Rickenbacker with the Jetglo finish that Lennon had applied to the guitar in 1962, and together with the gold-colored pickguard, this gives the guitar the look it had before Lennon fitted a white pickguard. A later modification by one of the previous owners is the addition of a Mastery M5 bridge for extra stability.

The guitar was built in 2006 and is in very good condition. Various dings can be found on the body, and around the Bigsby we see multiple screw holes from the replaced Vib-Rato. There is a matte spot in the finish on the back of the neck. The replaced Vib-rato and four knobs are included in the original hardshell case.
