This 1934 D Mahogany is part of the exclusive Santa Cruz Founders Collection and is built from remarkable Old Growth tonewoods that are extremely difficult to source, which makes it a genuinely rare instrument.

The dreadnought is the world's most popular acoustic shape today, but it did not always look this way. In 1934 the powerful 14-fret herringbone dreadnought arrived, going on to become one of the most prized and sought-after designs in the history of the steel-string guitar. The 1934 D is Santa Cruz's tribute to that landmark, capturing the essence of the iconic original that so many have tried and failed to recreate.

The secret to the superior tone of vintage instruments lies in aged woods with crystallised resins and the release of tension built into a guitar over the decades. Santa Cruz recreates exactly this with the 1934 D: Master Grade mahogany back and sides sawn in the 1930s, a Master Grade Old Growth Adirondack spruce top and bracing, all assembled with genuine hot hide glue. This isn't "just like the old materials", it is the old materials.

Hot hide glue is a time-tested, natural adhesive that dries to a hard, glassy, resonant bond for a faster, clearer response.
