Theo Scharpach Concertura Double Top DTS Brazilian Rosewood 2019

A Concertura double top by Theo Scharpach is a rare find. Built in 2019, this exceptional classical guitar combines a Brazilian rosewood body with a cedar and spruce double-top soundboard, resulting in an instrument that truly sings.

Theo Scharpach has been building guitars in his Dutch workshop for over four decades and has earned an international reputation for his archtop guitars. His classical guitars are built under the Concertura name.

The double-top construction features an outer layer of cedar, a lightweight balsa core, and an inner layer of spruce. This creates a soundboard that is both light and remarkably stiff, giving the guitar exceptional responsiveness, projection, and dynamic range without sacrificing warmth or tonal complexity. The beautifully figured Brazilian rosewood back and sides add depth, richness, and a wealth of harmonic overtones.

This 2019 Scharpach DTS presents beautifully and is in excellent condition. It shows only minimal signs of use, including a few small dings along the binding and some light surface scratches. On the underside of the guitar, a neatly fitted rosewood insert has been installed, most likely to professionally cover the former output jack opening of an installed pickup system. The guitar comes complete with its hardshell case, CITES documentation, and TFOA Passport.
