Gibson equipped the ES345 with distinctive details such as multi-layer binding, gold-colored hardware, and split parallelogram inlays on the fretboard. The model originally also featured a Varitone switch that added six extra possibilities to the tonal arsenal, with a stereo output.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eHowever, the Varitone on this ES345 is no longer functional, as the circuit was notorious for the problems it regularly caused in the guitars in which it was installed. The switch is still present on the top and in the circuit, but it is bypassed in position 1 by the bypass position. This modification makes the ES345 functionally equal to an ES335 once again. The two Patent No. Humbuckers give the guitar both a warm clean sound and a solid rock 'n' roll sound with some overdrive.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThis 1969 Gibson ES345 is finished in an Iced Tea Sunburst finish and, as mentioned earlier, features modified electronics. Notably, both volume knobs function as a master volume. The beginning of the CTS code 13768xx can be read on one of these volume potentiometers, indicating potentiometers from 1968.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eAt the heel, the lacquer at the transition from the neck to the body has been touched up, presumably to repair a small crack in the finish. The guitar is otherwise original and, due to its later year of manufacture, features the shorter pickguard and the trapezoid tailpiece. The Gibson Deluxe tuning machines introduced in 1969 are also present.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eFurthermore, the guitar shows signs of wear and craquelé that are to be expected on an instrument of this age, but these marks only emphasize the charm and style of the instrument.
