This example is an intriguing variation on the theme: built with Custom styling but in a pared back specification, fitted with just two humbuckers, a Burstbucker 1 in the neck and a Burstbucker 2 in the bridge, in place of the usual three. It was most likely a special order by a dealer or customer who wanted the look of the Custom paired with the more familiar, straightforward voice of an SG Standard.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe result is really the best of both worlds. The mahogany body and neck give that unmistakable SG growl and bite, while the pair of Burstbuckers covers a wide, dynamic range, from warm and vocal at the neck to punchy and articulate at the bridge, controlled by two volumes, two tones and a three way switch. The slim mahogany neck, 24.75\" scale and ebony fingerboard make for a fast, comfortable feel, and the Maestro Vibrola adds a touch of subtle vintage shimmer.
