Clifford Essex Paragon Ebony Archtop 1930s

This Clifford Essex Paragon brings you back to New Orleans in the 'roaring twenties': the origin of the Dixieland.

These extremely rare handmade archtops were made by Mario Roccia in the late 1920s in London and one of them was featured in The original James Bond theme. Although she has been completely restored, she is in fair condition and has four repaired cracks and hairlines on the top, with a higher action that is still playable. The refinished shows the beautiful flame maple back and sides, and the ebony top makes for a nice contrast.

She is still equiped with her original pickguard, a newer rosewood bridge and trapezoid tailpiece. The neck is crafted from three-piece maple with a rosewood fingerboard with a 20" radius. Don't let her condition fool you in any way. Mario Roccia was known for making outstanding archtops and this is one of them. She sounds great and dry with a sharp attack and depth to the tone.
