Hans de Louter D-Hole Maccaferri Resonator Gypsy Guitar 1992

Hans de Louter has been building guitars since 1986 and is mostly known for building Maccafari and Selmer style Gypsy Jazz instruments. This 1992 instrument by his hand uses the classic D-hole or "grande bouche" design which was shaped specifically to accommodate an internal resonator, an invention by luthier Mario Maccaferri. This guitar is upperclass build and construction and the closest we've seen so far to the 1932 Maccaferri guitar. This resonator increases the volume of the guitar and evens out variations in volume and tone between different strings. Other appointments include the short 640mm (25 /16") scale length and 0-fret, Rosewood back and sides with a spruce top, C-shaped mahogany neck, ebony compensated bridge and tailpiece with Rosewood insert. Instruments like these typically show a decent amount of playwear and signs of use and this one is no exception, condition is still Very Good though with no cracks or structural issues, a great setup and ditto sound. Years of playing not only left it's marks in the finish, but also really loosened up the tonewoods. It sounds loud, fat, warm and quite punchy, just the way we like them. Noteworhty is mentioning that the guitar is equipped with a passive (unkown) pickup. Included is a non-original hardshell case.
