Manuel Contreras 1 Premium Double Tapa 1984

This double tapa model made by Manuel Contreras 1 combines traditional building techniques with modern improvements like the Doblo Tapa or double top, this is not referring to the top of the guitar but to the back of the instrument. 'Tapa' means, in Spanish, 'cover' and refers to the reso-chamber that is created by adding a cedar covered chamber to the solid rosewood back to increase the power of the guitar. This impressive concert level instruments is made by Manuel Contreras 1 back in 1984.

The quality of Contreras guitars is among the highest quality- and Contreras guitars are considered to ba among the finest sounding guitars from Spain. This Concert quality instrument is made with the finest premium woods, including 'Premium' Brazilian rosewood for back and sides, 'premium' red cedar for the top, Cedar double top, ebony fingerboard. The detailing on this guitar is also premium, looking at the marquetry rosette and matching trim. Contreras guitars have been the choice of many great musicians, and continue to be so.  The Set up of this guitar is excellent, with comfortable action and plenty of saddle left to adjust the action. The playability is great also du to the comfortable neck shape that is relatively flat and gives greate ease to playing this guitar. The 19 fret neck, is very easy to play. The guitar sounds very powerful, with strong balanced mids, superior clarity, impressive warmth, and exceptional clarity. Contreras guitar are defining the best of the Madrid school.

The guitar is used, and very good condition, with some nailwear and small indention to the top,  1 hairline crack in the top under the bridge that has been repair, neck, back and sides are very clean, No cracks or repairs, and simply in beautiful condition for its age. CITES paper is included.
