Martin D35 1965

T

his is an impressive sounding vintage Martin D-35 Serial #206909, meaning this is a very rare 1st year 1965. Introduced in late 1965, the D-35 was designed with a three-piece back to allow C.F. Martin to use the smaller planks of the brazilian rosewood that were usually left-over parts Brazilian rosewood that was already in short supply at the time, before they stopped using it in the late 1960s. This is one of those rare examples of a D35 with all solid Brazilian Rosewood back and sides (CITES included ofcourse)

The Martin D35 was the first innovation in many years. Next to the three-piece back, it also had a bound ebony fingerboard, a neck without the usually volute that was a left-over-design of the Markneukirchen (pre-usa) era when necks and heads where glued together. it also features at the time modern 'Grover Rotomatics' and additional side purflings. Most important however were the lighter braces making the Martin D-35 the guitar with the most satisfying bass response at the time. That's why the Martin D35 became an instant hit and by mid 1970s Martin's number one selling instrument. This stunning example is an amazing guitar in vintage exceptional condition. Includes Later Martin hardshell case with CITES and original pickguard. CONSIGNMENT
