1968 vintage Guild D-35 dreadnought

Amazing inspiring guitar! Ideal for the singer songwriter on a budget that is searching for inspiration! 1968 was the First Year of the Guild D-35. Made in Hoboken, the first production year had some appointments that were changed in later years. For instance the inlaid peaked "Guild" logo changed to a silkscreened Gold logo the following year.
Features a sitka spruce top and mahogany back and sides. Very much like the Martin D-18, and not without reason. This guitar was designed to compete with the mahogany Martin D-18 back in the day. In the sixties Martin and Gibson were dominant guitar brands, but Guild was a hot up and coming item, largely due to guitars like this that could compete head-to-head with with equivalent Martin and Gibson for sound and playability, yet featured much more affordable price points.
Many artists were attracted to Guild, including Mississippi John Hurt, Paul Simon, Richie Havens, Nick Drake, Steve Miller, and Tommy Smothers for a few. This instrument with serial Number OD 320 has the traditional mahogany dreadnaught sound with that nice typical warm vintage character. Other features include a mahogany neck, rosewood fingerboard and bridge with dot fingerboard inlays.  It has the dark tortoise style binding and a new pick guard. Includes hardshell case.

With several repaired cracks on the back and sides, neck has been reset, frets are newer, entire guitar has some overspray (original finish underneath). However it's entirely stable and plays and sounds like a dream!
