Poljakoff S-1 Rosewood Alpine spruce, Shellac, Impressive, Carved masterpiece, NEW

Jakob Poljakoff is a young Luthier from Dortmund, Germany, actually with 33 years of Age probably one of the youngest independent luthiers in Europe. Jakob has been building guitars for several years, and the expert opinion is that he's working on a level of construction that must be considered a 'Lonely high level'. I would have no problem in stating Jakob's guitars are on a similar level of construction as for instant guitars made by Kevin Ryan, James Olson and other 10.000€+ priced luthiers. (please have a look at the Peter Finger Video below and judge for yourself)

Once you played a Poljakoff, you immediately understand what I'm talking about. His guitars have modest almost minimalistic looks but playing them will make a big impression on every player, you immediately notice the unique character and impressive tonal qualities that reminded me of guitars made by Stefan Sobell.

One of the eye-catching innovative details is the chip carved headstock, soundhole ring and raised fretboard on the body, stylish and impressive artwork, only done when Jakob is inspired. Aanother nice detail is the complex headstock construction where the head is - Stauffer style/but different- glued on the neck using a complex wedge, providing more sustain, and a more solid construction, but can only be made by real great luthiers. This guitar is made with a rarely seen custom option, and that's an Shellac brought on in secret mix with the French polish method on the top of the guitar. The French polish method consists of applying many thin coats of Shellac solved in alcohol, and it takes several days to apply. The finish of a gloss and i never seen a better French Polish than on Jakob's guitars. It looks like being sprayed on like Nitro-cellulose, Jakob's handwork is scary close to perfection. The back and sides are finished in a very comfortable matte finish. The Poljakoff S-1 model is amongst the most beautiful designs with stylish but sleek appointments, graceful and of an understated beauty, perfectly mastered inside and out. Every brace inside is sanded perfectly and every cosmetic detail is simply perfectly detailed.

Another impressive feature is the elevated fretboard on this instrument. The elevated fretboard is a feature which is not often seen on steel stringed instruments, but rather nylon stringed guitars. It improves playability on the upper frets without the need of a cutaway.

It features a Premium Indian Rosewood body, AAA Mastergrade Alpine spruce top, ebony fingerboard and polished Ebony string through bridge. The perfectionist that Jakob is, has supplied a small piece of custom fit leather to protect the surface when changing strings. The guitar is bound in Rosewood, and is beautifully decorated. The use of hot hide glue (when better) is an integral part of Jakob's work. The comfortable neck is paired to a perfect fingerstyle string-spacing at the bridge, and the Neck profile is a comfortable C profile. very suitable for fingerstyle players, but not too wide, and also suitable for strumming and picking.

This guitar is all about sound. On first stroke you hear it's very special and everyone in the store was flabbergasted by the massive tone and impressive projection when Jakob came to introduce his guitars. A unique sound, where a combination of power, perfect clarity without being harsh in any situation, a depth, separation and richness that I don't find in any other guitar providing Jakob's guitars with unique selling points. I predict a great future for this Young man. Beautiful bell like trebles, an added depth to the bass and a tone that will never be breaking up; a remarkable achievement. Comes in original Hiscox Case and included is BTW/VAT/MwS
