Noemi Baby Hawaiian Koa 7/8 size Dreadnought

Noemi Schembri was born in San Cataldo, Italy in 1983.  This young luthier has always been pre-occupied with wood and guitars. In 2011, Noemi moved to Canada and received instruction the from luthier Sergei De Jonge at his workshop. In five months, she completed the course with De Jonge. She finished both steel and nylon string guitars, worked on her own creations, and further refined her technique and the distinctive style of her instruments. According to Sergei himself Noemi was one of the best students he ever had. We had to take his word for it and boy was he right! We are Introducing the Noemi baby koa dreadnought.

This instrument is smaller than a full size Dreadnought and more comfortable to play, the Baby Dreadnought has a full-bodied sound; powerful and immediate. With the entire body made out of Koa it has that typical richness and finesse you might expect, this tonewood seems to be the perfect match for the body shape. Also the comfortable flat-C shaped mahogany neck in combination with the low radius on the fretboard, 45mm (1 25/32") nut width and 56mm (2 3/16") string spacing make this instrument equally suited for flatpicking/fingerstyle as well as strumming.

The detailing on the instrument is stunning, with bindings and rosette in Padouk and Indian Rosewood, maple/rosewood purling on the top and back of the body, great asymmetrical ebony bridge, clear pickguard and koa heelcap and headstock overlay on the front and back of the headstock. And let's not forget the French Polish finish, an extremly time-consuming process which takes great skill to master and in the end takes the instrument to an entirely different level. This instrument bears all the hallmarks of a high end, boutique instrument. Every minute detail has been carefully thought out, and you'll fall in love with it's great looks and magnificent tones the first time you touch it. Includes hardshell case.
