Martin F-65 Hollowbody, 1964, RARE, EC

The Martin F-Series were Martin’s first true electric guitars, although by no means Martin’s first archtop, the design reminiscent of the F series (non-electric) F-7 and F-9 archtops of the 1930’s. This double cutaway dual pickup 1964 F-65 with Bigsby tailpiece was the most expensive of the line. It features a honeyburst finish, laminated maple double cutaway body and top, mahogany neck which joins the body at the 14th fret, rosewood fretboard and a traditional Martin headstock and logo with three-per-side tuners. The F Series were the only Martin to ever use plexiglas bridges, possibly the only guitars ever to do so. (The reason plexiglas was used was that a Martin board member at the time owned a plexiglas factory and was keen to get into the guitar hardware business). It also uses DeArmond Dynasonic single coil pickups, identical to those used on many other guitars of the period but with a custom chrome cover and bobbin formed to fit the unique cutouts. These are extremely rare instruments, maybe not as collectable as some Fenders or Gibsons, but it's still an early/mid 60s electric from one of the biggest guitar Manufacturers in the world which makes it at least as special. Only 125 of these instrument were made in 1964... Frets of the instrument have been replaced. The rest of the guitar is entirely original and also includes the original hardshell case! Consignment sale.

Condition is excellent, 9 out of 10 with playwear and signs of use matching it's age, no cracks or other issues, very clean guitar!
