Harmony H-162 1960s

Harmony H162 from the 1960s, hard to identify from what year it is, because the serial number is faded. This guitar features mahogany back and sides, a sitka spruce top, tortoise binding, rosewood fretboard and bridge and a steel reinforce neck.

In the mid-1960s, Harmony was the largest stringed instrument manufacturer in the US. Similar models to this H162 were also sold under other names like Stella or Silvertone, the Sears brand. This guitar has a lot of character, the top of the guitar has no damages, only the playwear one could expect, like the pickwear and small dents. The finish on the back is faded to matte on the lower bout side, and still has the gloss on the upper bout side. ALso for the backs there are a few dents and scratches, next to the heel there is only one 3cm wood crack, but it is stabile and nothing to worry about. where the binding is connected next to the heel there is a gap between the binding, most likely because the material shrank over the years. The guitar has had a professional refret, and the frets are brand new, also the tuners are replaced for Kluson Deluxe tuners.

The steel in the bar cant be adjusted, the saddle is a bit low but the current playability for this guitar is good for strumming and fingerstyle. The overall condition of this guitar is excellent, and the guitar has a good warm sound. The guitar comes in a firm recent case.
