Martin 0-17 1942
Pre-war Martin 0-17 bearing the serial number 83011, this guitar is made in Nazareth, Pennsylvania, back in 1942 during the second world war. This guitar features full Honduras mahogany body. The neck is made out of Honduras mahogany with a rosewood fingerboard featuring stylish small dots, the headstock has a minimalistic design with dark original Grover tuners, without the bushings, because of the ‘war-shortages’, two of the knobs have been renewed. An '0' model is relatively small, with 34cm (13 1/2") lower bout size, but that doesn't influence the volume, it's perhaps a bit more straightforward compared to bigger guitars. And what a great versatile guitar this small body is, suitable for any style from strumming to fingerstyle and picking.
This Martin has weather checking over the body, but more prominent on the back/sides, due to a clear coat overspray, It had a professional neck reset and refret, this is barely visible on first sight. The current frets and saddle still have some ‘meat’ left for playing years. The playability is good and it has good volume.
