This Dyer Symphony Harp Guitar model is called 'Style 3', and only about a handful are known to exist. To call this an extremely rare vintage instrument would almost be an understatement.

Carl en August Larson, ook wel bekend als de Larson Brothers, werden geboren in Zweden en emigreerden eind jaren tachtig naar Chicago. Ze bouwden gitaren die werden verkocht onder namen van andere bedrijven, zoals Stahl, Prairie State, Euphonon en Maurer. Hun harpgitaren werden voornamelijk gemaakt onder het merk Dyer. Dit Dyer Symphony Harp Guitar-model heet 'Style 3', en voor zover bekend zijn er maar een handvol van gemaakt. Om dit een uiterst zeldzaam vintage instrument te noemen, zou bijna een understatement zijn.
Dit is een "short-scale" harpgitaar, met een mensuur van 22.25 inch. Dat is ongetwijfeld de reden waarom hij is gemaakt en vrijwel zeker is geïnspireerd door Knutsen's 3/4 harpgitaren met een 19-20 inch mensuur.
Er bestaat enige onzekerheid over de exacte datering van Dyer harpgitaren. Deze Style 3 met nummer '614' op het interieurlabel is waarschijnlijk rond 1908 gemaakt. Dat zou betekenen dat hij ruim 110 jaar oud is, en voor die leeftijd is hij nog in goede staat. Het sparren bovenblad heeft twee gerepareerde cracks en de mahonie achterkant heeft ook een paar scheurtjes.
De stemmechanieken van de laagste drie bassnaren zijn vervangen. De hoek van de tunerplaat van de twee andere bassnaren is afgesneden om plaats te bieden aan deze nieuwere mechanieken.
Dit is een unieke kans om een absoluut zeldzaam, bijzonder en goed bespeelbaar verzamelobject te bezitten.

The tuners of the lowest three bass strings have been replaced. The corner of the tuner plate of the other two bass strings has been cut off to accommodate these newer tuners.
