Kazuo Sato, 1996, Tropical Rosewood & German Spruce, Shellac, Calton case, NM

Kazuo Sato is a accomplished luthier who apprenticed with Kuniharu Nobe in Japan from 1965 to 1971 and then moved to work with David Rubio's from 1971 to 1974, at David Rubio's inspiring workshop. At David Rubio's workshop he worked amongst others with people like Paul Fischer. In 1974 he established his own workshop. His guitars are in a way similar to David Rubio's guitars.

This is a 1996 Kazuo Sato Spezial, an amazing guitar from a most highly appreciated Japanese/German Luthier who is still active as a maker. The guitars of Kazuo Sato are fascinating in many ways, i read somewhere the sound of Kazuo Sato is close to communicating in words, that's a nice way of describing this lively, vibrant, elegant and sensual instrument that is big, loud and impressive if you want to fill a concert hall, and lyrical and sensual when you want to communicate your deepest feelings in music.

The guitar features amazing grained Tropical rosewood back and sides, German spruce top, reinforced mahogany neck, ebony fingerboard, rosewood bridge, a typical Sato style thick slab of tropical rosewood headstock overlay, Rubner tuners, Full Shellac Varnish, delicate Rose Marquetry wood rosette, rosewood binding, multiple rosewood-maple purfling. A most intriguing guitar close to near mint condition, with only tiny traces of nail-wear under the soundhole. The guitar is protected by a high quality Calton case.
