ALD Gypsy Jazz Spruce Rosewood 2012

This 2012 ALD is a gypsy jazz guitar exactly as it was meant to be, featuring laminated rosewood back and sides, a solid spruce top, and traditional ladder bracing, combined with a long scale length that delivers the dry, cutting tone this style of music demands.

The gypsy jazz guitar as we know it today originated from the instruments designed by Mario Maccaferri for the French manufacturer Selmer in the late 1920s. Django Reinhardt made the model world famous, and luthiers around the globe continue to build guitars based on this timeless formula. This ALD is a fine example of that tradition.

Its traditional construction is immediately reflected in its sound. The ladder bracing and laminated rosewood body produce a dry, focused voice with very little sustain, exactly what you want when driving the rhythm with la pompe or making a lead line cut through the ensemble. The solid spruce top provides the quick attack and responsiveness that complete the classic gypsy jazz sound.

This 2012 ALD is in excellent condition and shows only light signs of playwear in the form of small scratches and dings across the body and top. There is also a small finish chip in the binding just below the bridge. Aside from this, the guitar presents itself exceptionally well. It comes complete with its case and TFOA Passport.
