Collings DS3 Custom AAA Adirondack Brazilian Rosewood 2006

This 2006 Collings DS3, featuring top-tier Brazilian rosewood and Adirondack spruce, is an impressive instrument with a magnificent tone. It utilizes the original 12-fret dreadnought shape, first designed nearly a century ago as an oversized Hawaiian guitar.

While Collings has chosen to retain the shape and the wide, V-profile mahogany neck with a slotted headstock characteristic of that bygone era, this DS model is a thoroughly modern guitar with a unique sound of its own. The elongated Brazilian rosewood body and AAA-grade Adirondack spruce top—with the bridge positioned closer to the center of the lower bout—produce an almost incredibly open and airy tone. The instrument offers a suppleness and warmth not typically found in other modern 14-fret or 12-fret dreadnoughts.

Whether played with a flatpick or fingers, this guitar offers plenty of headroom; its wide dynamic range lends itself to everything from understated accompaniment to sharp, cutting lead lines. Further features include an ebony bridge, an ebony fretboard with ivoroid binding and 'Style 42' abalone inlay, ivoroid binding and top purfling, a Brazilian rosewood headstock overlay with ivoroid binding, gold Waverly tuners, a 'Style 3' backstrip, an abalone rosette, and an ivoroid heel cap.

For a 20-year-old instrument, the guitar still looks magnificent; only slight signs of play reveal that it has been used. It is simply a fantastic instrument, built to the highest standards using the finest materials!

This guitar has been carefully inspected for condition and playability, then set up to our Gold Standard by a luthier. We make sure it arrives in your hands exactly as it should: sounding its best, playing effortlessly and ready to be enjoyed from the very first note.
