Collings OM1A Traditional Torrefied Adirondack

This Collings OM1A Traditional is a beautiful example of what happens when exceptional materials meet exceptional craftsmanship. Its torrefied Adirondack spruce top over Honduran mahogany back and sides gives it a voice that sounds open, rich and alive from the very first chord, with the kind of maturity you would normally only expect from a guitar that has been played for decades.

Collings Guitars was founded by Bill Collings and builds its instruments in Austin, Texas, where a small team combines traditional handwork with an almost obsessive eye for precision. Every joint, every brace and every detail of the finish is executed with remarkable care, and that attention to detail is something you notice the moment you pick up one of their guitars. It is this combination of craftsmanship and consistency that has made Collings one of the most respected names among acoustic players around the world.

The heart of this guitar is its torrefied Adirondack top. Adirondack spruce is known for its stiffness and enormous headroom, which lets the guitar stay clear and powerful even when you play hard. Through torrefaction, the wood is carefully heated in a controlled environment, which changes its structure in a way that resembles natural aging. The result is a top that responds instantly to your touch and gives the guitar the open, resonant character of an instrument that has already been played in.

The Honduran mahogany back and sides add warmth and a focused, woody midrange, while the OM body keeps the sound beautifully balanced, so every note comes through with clarity whether you are fingerpicking delicate lines or strumming with full force. The pre war style scalloped X bracing lets the top move freely, adding rich overtones and long sustain. It is a guitar that sounds simply gorgeous, with a depth and sweetness that keeps drawing you back in. It comes with a hardshell case, a booklet, a polishing cloth, a D'Addario Humidipak and a TFOA Passport.

This guitar has been carefully inspected for condition and playability, then set up to our Gold Standard by a luthier. We make sure it arrives in your hands exactly as it should: sounding its best, playing effortlessly and ready to be enjoyed from the very first note.
